What we are building

The Sevia Infrastructure

Every contribution strengthens the network.

One person may teach. Another may translate. Another may build a tool. Another may connect a community to an opportunity.

When these contributions connect, they become something bigger than anything one person could build alone.

No single contributor has to build it all.
How We Build - Our Core Values

Grounded in Principles • Built by Community • Beyond Hierarchies

Human-Centered

We build around the realities, needs, safety, dignity, and potential of the women doing the work.

Shared Ownership

Every person brings something unique. When those contributions come together, they create knowledge, resources, and solutions that can be shared.

Leadership That Multiplies

When people share what they know, create together, and open doors for others, new opportunities emerge, innovation grows, and leadership multiplies.

The Sevia Flywheel — How Contributions Connect

When Contributions Connect, Infrastructure Grows.

Different forms of contribution strengthen different parts of the network, creating pathways for knowledge, resources, opportunities, and collective action to move between communities.

You don't have to be a leader to help build Sevia. Contribute what you already know. Every contribution added to the Sevia ecosystem strengthens the entire network.

The Sevia flywheel: Sevia Core at the center, surrounded by Community, Transparency Hub, Code & Tools, Shared Supply & Logistics, Grant & Capital, Advocacy & Policy, Open Insights, Research & Data, Knowledge & Time, and Amplify Network Growth.

Why We Build Open

Build Once. Let Knowledge Travel.

Sovereign infrastructure must be built together, not handed down. True resilience means building systems that depend on no single group, founder, or organization — no single point of failure, including Sevia.

We aren't building an ecosystem that relies on Sevia; we are laying down shared, open foundations designed to outlive us.

Open Knowledge

Playbooks, research, and technical guides rendered freely available.

Open Contribution

Granular pathways for anyone to build one piece of the puzzle.

Open Collaboration

Permissionless cross-border alignment for African women leaders.

Shared Infrastructure

Modular building blocks designed so Sevia's work travels further than Sevia alone.

We build public goods, shaped, sustained, and owned by the communities that rely on them.

Security & Privacy

Trust, Safety & Protection

Built for Different Realities. Engineered for Security. Designed for Continuity.

Not every woman can participate in the same way. Sevia is designed to support participation while respecting different levels of privacy, visibility, and risk.

Public Participation

For contributors who can safely participate publicly, Sevia can provide recognition, connections, collaboration, and opportunities.

Visibility → Collaboration → Opportunity

Limited Visibility

For contributors who prefer to build within verified networks without public exposure, participation is acknowledged internally while keeping external identity strictly private.

Internal Recognition → Controlled Reach

Protected Participation

For contributors operating in more sensitive environments, participation can be designed around privacy, pseudonymous identity, limited attribution, trusted relationships, and strict operational security.

Privacy → Operational Protection → Zero Exposure

Visibility should never be a requirement for participation.

The Infrastructure Behind the Movement

Why Sevia exists, what it's building, how it works, and how you fit into it.

Our Origin Sovereign infrastructure has to be built together, not handed down — so we're laying down shared, open foundations that depend on no single group, founder, or Sevia itself. Delve into this →
Core Mission Connect what people already contribute — knowledge, code, funding, research, time, relationships — so individual contributions compound into lasting shared infrastructure. Delve into this →
Key Focus A simple loop — Contribute → Connect → Share → Build → Multiply — that turns one person's contribution into a growing, self-sustaining network. Delve into this →

Sevia isn't one organization trying to do everything. It's the connection layer that helps people, tools, and knowledge find each other — so what one woman builds can strengthen what another is building too. Curious how this looks in real life? Follow Ama's story →

Contribute to Sevia

You Don't Need to Build Everything. Start With What You Know.

Tell us what you can contribute, what you are interested in building, or who you can connect us with. You can contribute knowledge, skills, time, relationships, resources, or practical experience. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.

You choose how you participate. You choose how you are represented. And you decide how much of your identity you share.

The Contribution Loop

Don't commit to Sevia. Contribute to it.

You contribute something useful. Sevia helps document and connect it. Someone else builds on it, a new opportunity emerges, and your contribution travels far beyond where it started.

Where Do I Fit?

You Don't Have to Build Everything. Build One Piece.

There are many ways to strengthen what women are building across Africa. Start small. Small contributions can compound into greater economic resilience for communities.

Educate

Teach Bitcoin, financial literacy, or digital security.

Mentor

Guide leaders across operations, technology, and strategy.

Translate

Make useful knowledge accessible across African languages.

Build

Develop open software, developer tools, and protocols.

Research

Document local ecosystems, economic realities, and emerging opportunities.

Connect

Introduce ecosystem partners, funders, networks, and people who can strengthen the work.

Fund

Support infrastructure, pilots, research, and community initiatives.

Organize

Activate local grassroots hubs and regional networks.

Amplify

Help useful tools, knowledge, and opportunities reach the people who can use them.

Contribution Form

Application Portal

Step 1 of 5 — About You

For privacy and safety, you may use a pseudonym, chosen name, or the name you would like associated with your contributions within the Sevia network.

Used for communication regarding your contribution and application.

Only provide this if you are comfortable being contacted by phone.

⚠️ Operational Privacy Note: In many regions, phone numbers are tied directly to national identity cards (SIM registration). If you require protected or anonymous participation, we strongly recommend providing a Signal handle or Telegram username instead of a mobile number.
Step 2 of 5 — Your Contribution

You can select more than one.

Step 3 of 5 — Privacy & Participation

Your Participation. Your Choice.

Sevia is built to be open, but openness should never require unnecessary exposure. You decide how you would like to participate and how your contribution should be represented.

Your name or chosen identity and contribution may be publicly associated with your participation.

Your contribution may be recognized within relevant Sevia circles, while limiting what personal information is shared publicly.

Your participation is handled with greater privacy and limited attribution based on your preferences and the nature of your contribution.

Step 4 of 5 — Information & Protection

We ask for information to understand your contribution, communicate with you, and determine the most appropriate way for you to participate. We aim to collect only what is useful for these purposes.

Your information should not automatically become public simply because you contribute to an open network. Your contribution can be open without your personal information being open.

Read Sevia's Participation & Conduct Standards → (link)

You do not need to publicly identify yourself to tell us how you can contribute. Your contribution matters. Your safety matters too.

Step 5 of 5 — Submit for Review

Ready to plug in? Submit your contribution details for review — our team will follow up according to the participation preferences you selected above.

Partnerships

Build With Sevia.

We work with organizations, open-source projects, funders, educators, technical teams, community initiatives, and ecosystem partners aligned with stronger economic participation for women across Africa. Tell us what you are building, what you bring, and where you see an opportunity to work together.

Grant & Capital

Fund the Infrastructure

Capital can help promising contributions, community initiatives, pilots, research, and infrastructure move from ideas into working projects. Fund what strengthens the network, not just a single organization.

Funding at Sevia is treated as one contribution among many — not the only one that matters. A dollar of capital and an hour of mentorship can strengthen the same piece of infrastructure in different ways.

We're looking for funders who want their capital to reach specific, useful work — education, translation, open-source tools, community pilots, research, and the security and operational capacity that keeps contributors safe.

What Funding Can Support

Education

Workshops, curricula, and localized learning materials for communities across the network.

Translation

Making existing knowledge and tools accessible across more African languages.

Open-Source Development

Builders creating and maintaining shared tools, protocols, and technical infrastructure.

Community Pilots

Early-stage local initiatives testing new approaches before they scale.

Research

Documenting local realities, economic patterns, and emerging opportunities.

Security & Operational Capacity

The privacy, protection, and operational security that make participation possible for more women.

How Funding Is Stewarded

Where funding mechanisms are operational, we aim to route capital through transparent processes with appropriate reporting — not as a black box. Where appropriate, individuals and communities retain control of their own resources rather than unnecessarily transferring control to Sevia, and shared or pooled funds can use distributed stewardship and multisignature structures rather than depending on one person.

Support Sevia Directly

Donate to Sevia Africa

Every donation goes directly toward the knowledge, tools, and infrastructure that help women across Africa build lasting economic resilience.

Code & Tools

Transparency Hub

Open tools and technical systems that make contributions, projects, and resources easier to discover, coordinate, and trust.

Sevia is meant to be a network people can trust without having to take it on faith. That means being clear about how decisions get made, how resources are stewarded, and what standards participants are held to — while still respecting that not everyone can, or should, be visible in the same way.

Visibility should never be a requirement for participation. Transparency at Sevia is about the systems and decisions, not about exposing individual contributors who need privacy or protection.

What We Aim to Make Visible

Governance Structure

How the Steering Council, working groups, and regional representation are organized.

Decision-Making

Which decisions are made locally, within working groups, or with stronger collective review.

Contribution Pathways

How contributions are reviewed, documented, and connected across the network.

Resource Stewardship

How funding, shared infrastructure, and community resources are handled and by whom.

Participation Standards

The conduct, integrity, and accountability standards every participant agrees to.

Open-Source Repositories

The tools and technical infrastructure Sevia builds and maintains in the open.

Notes From The Team

Nothing has been published here yet. As governance, funding mechanisms, and shared infrastructure become operational, this is where the underlying systems and reporting will be documented — honestly, and as soon as there is something real to show.
